2024-05-08libcamera: Drop file name from header comment blocksLaurent Pinchart
Source files in libcamera start by a comment block header, which includes the file name and a one-line description of the file contents. While the latter is useful to get a quick overview of the file contents at a glance, the former is mostly a source of inconvenience. The name in the comments can easily get out of sync with the file name when files are renamed, and copy & paste during development have often lead to incorrect names being used to start with. Readers of the source code are expected to know which file they're looking it. Drop the file name from the header comment block. The change was generated with the following script: ---------------------------------------- dirs="include/libcamera src test utils" declare -rA patterns=( ['c']=' \* ' ['cpp']=' \* ' ['h']=' \* ' ['py']='# ' ['sh']='# ' ) for ext in ${!patterns[@]} ; do files=$(for dir in $dirs ; do find $dir -name "*.${ext}" ; done) pattern=${patterns[${ext}]} for file in $files ; do name=$(basename ${file}) sed -i "s/^\(${pattern}\)${name} - /\1/" "$file" done done ---------------------------------------- This misses several files that are out of sync with the comment block header. Those will be addressed separately and manually. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Daniel Scally <dan.scally@ideasonboard.com>
2021-08-09libcamera: Rename 'method' to 'function'Laurent Pinchart
Usage of 'method' to refer to member functions comes from Java. The C++ standard uses the term 'function' only. Replace 'method' with 'function' or 'member function' through the whole code base and documentation. While at it, fix two typos (s/backeng/backend/). The BoundMethod and Object::invokeMethod() are left as-is here, and will be addressed separately. 2019-05-17test: media_device: Create a common MediaDeviceTest base classNiklas Söderlund
Before adding more tests which will act on the vimc pipeline break out a common base from media_device_link_test.cpp which already acts on vimc. The new common base class will help reduce code duplication. Signed-off-by: Niklas Söderlund <niklas.soderlund@ragnatech.se> Reviewed-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com>
2019-05-17libcamera: media_device: Handle media device fd in acquire() and release()Niklas Söderlund
To gain better control of when a file descriptor is open to the media device and reduce the work needed in pipeline handler implementations, handle the file descriptor in acquire() and release(). This changes the current behavior where a file descriptor is only open when requested by the pipeline handler to that one is always open as long a media device is acquired. This new behavior is desired to allow implementing exclusive access to a pipeline handler between processes. 2019-01-24libcamera: device_enumerator: Reference-count MediaDevice instancesLaurent Pinchart
The MediaDevice class will be the entry point to hot-unplug, as it corresponds to the kernel devices that will report device removal events. The class will signal media device disconnection to pipeline handlers, which will clean up resources as a result. This can't be performed synchronously as references may exist to the related Camera objects in applications. The MediaDevice object thus needs to be reference-counted in order to support unplugging, as otherwise pipeline handlers would be required to drop all the references to the media device they have borrowed synchronously with the disconnection signal handler, which would be very error prone (if even possible at all in a sane way). Handle MedieDevice instances with std::shared_ptr<> to support this. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Niklas Söderlund <niklas.soderlund@ragnatech.se>
