2024-05-08libcamera: Drop file name from header comment blocksLaurent Pinchart
Source files in libcamera start by a comment block header, which includes the file name and a one-line description of the file contents. While the latter is useful to get a quick overview of the file contents at a glance, the former is mostly a source of inconvenience. The name in the comments can easily get out of sync with the file name when files are renamed, and copy & paste during development have often lead to incorrect names being used to start with. Readers of the source code are expected to know which file they're looking it. Drop the file name from the header comment block. The change was generated with the following script: ---------------------------------------- dirs="include/libcamera src test utils" declare -rA patterns=( ['c']=' \* ' ['cpp']=' \* ' ['h']=' \* ' ['py']='# ' ['sh']='# ' ) for ext in ${!patterns[@]} ; do files=$(for dir in $dirs ; do find $dir -name "*.${ext}" ; done) pattern=${patterns[${ext}]} for file in $files ; do name=$(basename ${file}) sed -i "s/^\(${pattern}\)${name} - /\1/" "$file" done done ---------------------------------------- This misses several files that are out of sync with the comment block header. Those will be addressed separately and manually. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> Reviewed-by: Daniel Scally <dan.scally@ideasonboard.com>

2023-02-09libcamera: Remove transform from V4L2SubdeviceFormatJacopo Mondi
Commit 6f6e1bf704fe ("libcamera: camera_sensor: Apply flips at setFormat()") extended the CameraSensor::setFormat() function to apply vertical/horizontal flips on the sensor based on the supplied Transform. To pass the Transform to the function the V4L2SubdeviceFormat structure has been augmented with a Transform member. However as the newly added Transform is not used at all in the V4L2Subdevice class, it should not be part of V4L2SubdeviceFormat. Fix that by removing the transform field from V4L2SubdeviceFormat and pass it as an explicit parameter to CameraSensor::setFormat(). 2023-01-30libcamera: camera_sensor: Apply flips at setFormat()Jacopo Mondi
Augment the CameraSensor::setFormat() function to configure horizontal and vertical flips before applying the image format on the sensor. Applying flips before format is crucial as they might change the Bayer pattern ordering. To allow users of the CameraSensor class to specify a Transform, add to the V4L2SubdeviceFormat class a 'transform' member, by default initialized to Transform::Identity. Moving the handling of H/V flips to the CameraSensor class allows to remove quite some boilerplate code from the IPU3 and RaspberryPi pipeline handlers. No functional changes intended. 2022-08-03libcamera: v4l2_videodevice: Reintroduce toV4L2PixelFormat()Jacopo Mondi
This is a partial revert of commit 395d43d6d75b ("libcamera: v4l2_videodevice: Drop toV4L2PixelFormat()") The function was removed because it incorrectly maps non-contiguous V4L2 format variants (ie V4L2_PIX_FMT_YUV420M) to the API version supported by the video device (singleplanar API and multiplanar API). It was decided at the time to remove the function and let its users call directly V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat() which accepts a 'multiplanar' flags. As we aim to associate multiple V4L2PixelFormat to a single libcamera format, the next patches will verify which of them is actually supported by the video device. For now, return the contiguous version unconditionally. Re-introduce V4L2VideoDevice::toV4L2PixelFormat() and convert all the V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat() users to use it. The V4L2 compatibility layer is the only outlier as it doesn't have a video device to poke, hence it still uses V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat(). Next patches will implement the device format matching logic and handle the non-contiguous plane issue in V4L2VideoDevice::toV4L2PixelFormat(). 2021-08-31ipu3: cio2: Tweak sensor size selection policyUmang Jain
Do not compare higher precision of the ratios, as it might lead to absurd selection of sensor size for a relatively low requested resolution size. For example: The imx258 driver supports the following sensor resolutions: - 4208x3118 = 1.349583066 - 2104x1560 = 1.348717949 - 1048x780 = 1.343589744 It can be inferred that, that the aspect ratio only differs by a small mantissa with each other. It does not makes sense to select a 4208x3118 for a requested size of say 640x480 or 1280x720, which is what is happening currently. ($) cam -c1 -swidth=640,height=480,role=raw - CIO2 configuration: 4208x3118-SGRBG10_IPU3 [*] In order to address this constraint, only compare the ratio with single precision to make a better decision on the sensor resolution policy selection. 2021-08-31ipu3: cio2: Change sensor size selection policyUmang Jain
The current implementation of getSensorFormat() prioritizes sensor sizes that match the output size FOV ratio. Modify the frame size selection procedure to prioritize resolutions with the same FOV as the sensor's native one, to avoid cropping in the sensor pixel array. For example: - on a Soraka device equipped with ov13858 as back sensor, with a native resolution of 4224x3136 (4:3), when requested to select the sensor output size to produce 1080p (16:9) a frame size of 2112x1188 (16:9) is selected causing the ImgU configuration procedure to fail. If a resolution with the same FOV as the sensor's native size, such as 2112x1568 (4:3), is selected the pipeline works correctly. 2021-08-31ipu3: cio2: Replicate CameraSensor::getFormats() to a member functionUmang Jain
This prepares a base to introduce custom selection of sensor format based on platform(Soraka or Nautilus) constraints. The changes in selection policy will be introduced in a subsequent patch. The function is copied from CameraSensor::getFormat() in the IPU3 pipeline handler code to be later changed on top. The copy is not verbatim and has a minor change as follows: CameraSensor::getFormats() has access to a V4L2Subdevice::Formats internally and use it directly to iterate over supported camera sensor frame sizes. The copy is adapted to use the CameraSensor::sizes(mbusCode) instead, to enumerate over the supported frame sizes as per mbusCodesToPixelFormat map. No functional changes in this patch. 2021-08-31libcamera: camera_sensor: Transform CameraSensor::sizes()Umang Jain
In CameraSensor, the mbusCodes() and sizes() accessor functions retrieves all the supported media bus codes and the supported sizes respectively. However, this is quite limiting since the caller probably isn't in a position to match which range of sizes are supported for a particular mbusCode. Hence, the caller is most likely interested to know about the sizes supported for a particular media bus code. This patch transforms the existing CameraSensor::sizes() to CameraSensor::sizes(mbuscode) to achieve that goal. The patch also transforms existing CIO2Device::sizes() in IPU3 pipeline handler to CIO2Device::sizes(PixelFormat) on a similar principle. The function is then plumbed to CameraSensor::sizes(mbusCode) to enumerate the per-format sizes as required in PipelineHandlerIPU3::generateConfiguration().
