2024-04-24libcamera: Add CameraSensor implementation for raw V4L2 sensorsLaurent Pinchart
Add a new CameraSensorRaw implementation of the CameraSensor interface tailored to devices that implement the new V4L2 raw camera sensors API. This new class duplicates code from the CameraSensorLegacy class. The two classes will be refactored to share code. Signed-off-by: Laurent Pinchart <laurent.pinchart@ideasonboard.com> --- Changes since combined RFC: - Set factory priority explicitly - Set flipsAlterBayerOrder_ - Fix build warning due to missing default case in cfa switch - Check for read-only hblank using V4L2_CTRL_FLAG_READ_ONLY
2024-04-24libcamera: camera_sensor: Create abstract base classLaurent Pinchart
With a camera sensor factory in place, the next step is to create an abstract base class that all camera sensors implement, providing a uniform API to pipeline handler. Turn all public functions of the CameraSensor class into pure virtual functions, and move the implementation to the CameraSensorLegacy class. Part of the code is likely worth keeping as common helpers in a base class. However, to follow the principle of not designing helpers with a single user, this commit moves the whole implementation. Common helpers will be introduced later, along with other CameraSensor subclasses. Auto exposure/gain targets a Mean Sample Value of 2.5 following the MSV calculation algorithm from: https://www.araa.asn.au/acra/acra2007/papers/paper84final.pdf Use CameraSensorHelper to convert the analogue gain code read from the camera sensor into real analogue gain value. In the future this makes it possible to use faster AE/AGC algorithm. Right now the CameraSensorHelper lets us use the full range of analogue gain values. If there is no CameraSensorHelper for the camera sensor in use, a warning log message is printed. 2023-07-05Documentation: Add predefined macros from config.h to DoxyfileLaurent Pinchart
libcamera creates a config.h file with predefined macros, and instructs the compiler to include it implicitly with the -include argument. Doxygen has no support for implicit inclusion of headers, but has a PREDEFINED configuration option for its preprocessor that lists predefined macros. Populate it with the values from the config_h configuration data object that is used for generate the config.h file, to ensure that documentation matches the configuration options libcamera has been built with. 2023-01-05Documentation: Specify Doxygen OUTPUT_DIRECTORY explicitlyBarnabás Pőcze
Currently, doxygen is run by ninja in the top-level build directory, therefore the "Documentation" folder is always created there. However, when libcamera is built as a subproject, it should not touch the top-level build directory because it can cause conflicts and because the documentation won't be created where meson thinks it will be, so the "doxygen" target will always be dirty and installation will fail. 2022-10-13meson: Shared Object version handlingKieran Bingham
The libcamera project is not yet ready to declare ABI nor API stability, but it will benefit the community to be able to provide more regular release cycles to determine 'versioned' points of history. Ideally, these releases will be made at any ABI breakage, but can be made at arbitary time based points along the way. To support releases which may not be ABI stable, declare the soversion of both the libcamera and libcamera-base library to be dependant upon both the major minor and patch component of the project version. As part of this, introduce a new 'Versions' summary section to highlight the different version components that may become apparent within any given build. Bumping versions may leave dangling libcamera.so.* symlinks in build directories. This will confuse Doxygen which will print during its directory scanning phase a warning that the symlink can't be read. As we don't need Doxygen to follow symlinks, disable it with EXCLUDE_SYMLINKS. 2022-08-31Documentation: Strip default options and comments from Doxyfile.inLaurent Pinchart
Doxyfile.in was generated using `doxygen -g` with Doxygen v1.8.14. This has produced a file with all options supported by Doxygen at the time, and a handful of them have then been modified to support libcamera's needs, with most options retaining their default. Some of the default options have been deprecated in newer Doxygen releases, which led to warnings when generating the documentation. The usual process to fix this is to update the configuration file with `doxygen -u`. This creates a big diff due to the large number of changes to default options, which isn't quite nice. Instead, let's just drop all the default options and the comments, to produce a small and more readable Doxyfile.in. This requires files within libcamera to include them with #include <ipa/foo.h> while a third party IPA would need to use #include <libcamera/ipa/foo.h> Not only is this inconsistent, it can create issues later if IPA headers need to include each other, as the first form of include directive wouldn't be valid once the headers are installed. 2020-05-16libcamera: Move internal headers to include/libcamera/internal/Laurent Pinchart
The libcamera internal headers are located in src/libcamera/include/. The directory is added to the compiler headers search path with a meson include_directories() directive, and internal headers are included with (e.g. for the internal semaphore.h header) #include "semaphore.h" All was well, until libcxx decided to implement the C++20 synchronization library. The __threading_support header gained a #include <semaphore.h> to include the pthread's semaphore support. As include_directories() adds src/libcamera/include/ to the compiler search path with -I, the internal semaphore.h is included instead of the pthread version. Needless to say, the compiler isn't happy. Three options have been considered to fix this issue: - Use -iquote instead of -I. The -iquote option instructs gcc to only consider the header search path for headers included with the "" version. Meson unfortunately doesn't support this option. - Rename the internal semaphore.h header. This was deemed to be the beginning of a long whack-a-mole game, where namespace clashes with system libraries would appear over time (possibly dependent on particular system configurations) and would need to be constantly fixed. - Move the internal headers to another directory to create a unique namespace through path components. This causes lots of churn in all the existing source files through the all project. The first option would be best, but isn't available to us due to missing support in meson. Even if -iquote support was added, we would need to fix the problem before a new version of meson containing the required support would be released. The third option is thus the only practical solution available. Bite the bullet, and do it, moving headers to include/libcamera/internal/. 2020-01-07libcamera: bound_method: Manage BoundMethodPack through std::shared_ptrLaurent Pinchart
The bound method arguments pack will need to be accessed by the method invoker in order to retrieve the method return value when using a blocking connection type. We thus can't delete the pack unconditionally in the bound method target thread. We also can't delete it unconditionally in the invoker's thread, as for queued connections the pack will be used in the target thread after the invoker completes. This shows that ownership of the arguments pack is shared between two contexts. As a result, manage it using std::shared_ptr<>. 2019-11-20ipa: Switch to the plain C APIJacopo Mondi
Switch IPA communication to the plain C API. As the IPAInterface class is easier to use for pipeline handlers than a plain C API, retain it and add an IPAContextWrapper that translate between the C++ and the C APIs. On the IPA module side usage of IPAInterface may be desired for IPAs implemented in C++ that want to link to libcamera. For those IPAs, a new IPAInterfaceWrapper helper class is introduced to wrap the IPAInterface implemented internally by the IPA module into an ipa_context, ipa_context_ops and ipa_callback_ops. 2019-10-05libcamera: controls: Auto-generate control_ids.h and control_ids.cppLaurent Pinchart
Bring back auto-generation of control ids. In this version, both the header and the source files are generated from a single YAML file that stores all control definitions. This allows centralising controls in a single file, while the previous version required keeping both declarations (in a header) and documentation (in a the source) in sync manually. Using YAML as a format to store control definitions is a trade-off between ease of use (there are many YAML parsers available) and simplicity (XML was considered, but would have lead to more complex processing). A new build time dependency is added on python3-yaml, which should be available as a package in all distributions and build environments. The YAML format is likely to change over time as we improve documentation of controls, the first version simply copies the information currently available. Future improvements should also include a YAML schema to validate the YAML source file. 2019-09-15libcamera: Move ipa includes to the same level as libcameraLaurent Pinchart
The ipa includes are located in include/libcamera/ipa/. This gives an incorrect impression that they are a sub-part of the rest of the libcamera API, while they are the API towards the IPA the same way that include/libcamera/ contains the API towards applications. To clarify this, move them to include/ipa/. The IPA headers are however still part of libcamera, so installing them to ${prefix}/include/ipa/ would make little sense. To fix this, move the application facing API to ${prefix}/include/libcamera/libcamera/ when installed, and the IPA to ${prefix}/include/libcamera/ipa/. When major versions of libcamera will be released, they could then be installed side by side in ${prefix}/include/libcamera-${version}/.
