2023-08-07libcamera: Define and use MediaDeviceMatchJacopo Mondi
The xistingdevice search and match criteria implemented by libcamera only supports 'media device' based cameras, which are supported in the Linux kernel by the usage of the V4L2/MC API. Define a MediaDeviceMatch class derived from DeviceMatch and use it wherever DeviceMatch was used in order to later introduce new derived classes to support searching and matching devices of a different type. 2022-08-03libcamera: v4l2_videodevice: Reintroduce toV4L2PixelFormat()Jacopo Mondi
This is a partial revert of commit 395d43d6d75b ("libcamera: v4l2_videodevice: Drop toV4L2PixelFormat()") The function was removed because it incorrectly maps non-contiguous V4L2 format variants (ie V4L2_PIX_FMT_YUV420M) to the API version supported by the video device (singleplanar API and multiplanar API). It was decided at the time to remove the function and let its users call directly V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat() which accepts a 'multiplanar' flags. As we aim to associate multiple V4L2PixelFormat to a single libcamera format, the next patches will verify which of them is actually supported by the video device. For now, return the contiguous version unconditionally. Re-introduce V4L2VideoDevice::toV4L2PixelFormat() and convert all the V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat() users to use it. The V4L2 compatibility layer is the only outlier as it doesn't have a video device to poke, hence it still uses V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat(). Next patches will implement the device format matching logic and handle the non-contiguous plane issue in V4L2VideoDevice::toV4L2PixelFormat(). 2021-09-07libcamera: v4l2_videodevice: Drop toV4L2PixelFormat()Laurent Pinchart
The V4L2VideoDevice::toV4L2PixelFormat() function is incorrectly implemented, as it will pick a multi-planar format if the device supports the multi-planar API, even if only single-planar formats are supported. This currently works because the implementation calls V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat(), which ignores the multiplanar argument and always returns a single-planar format. Fixing this isn't trivial. As we don't need to support multi-planar V4L2 formats at this point, drop the function instead of pretending everything is fine, and call V4L2PixelFormat::fromPixelFormat() directly from pipeline handlers. As the single-planar case is the most common, set the multiplanar argument to false by default to avoid long lines. 2021-08-19libtest: camera_test: Plumb constructor to set LIBCAMERA_IPA_FORCE_ISOLATIONUmang Jain
Some tests might require to have LIBCAMERA_IPA_FORCE_ISOLATION set to ensure they can test the IPA running in isolated mode. These tests are likely to leverage CameraTest. The environment variable should be set before CameraManager::start() call which happens in CameraTest's constructor. Hence, plumb the constructor with a flag so that the LIBCAMERA_IPA_FORCE_ISOLATION can be set before CameraManager::start(). Headers which must not be exposed as part of the public libcamera API should include base/private.h. Any interface which includes the private.h header will only be able to build if the libcamera_private dependency is used (or the libcamera_base_private dependency directly). Build targets which are intended to use the private API's will use the libcamera_private to handle the automatic definition of the inclusion guard. 2020-08-25meson: Remove -Wno-unused-parameterLaurent Pinchart
We build libcamera with -Wno-unused-parameter and this doesn't cause much issue internally. However, it prevents catching unused parameters in inline functions defined in public headers. This can lead to compilation warnings for applications compiled without -Wno-unused-parameter. To catch those issues, remove -Wno-unused-parameter and fix all the related warnings with [[maybe_unused]]. 2020-05-16libcamera: Move internal headers to include/libcamera/internal/Laurent Pinchart
The libcamera internal headers are located in src/libcamera/include/. The directory is added to the compiler headers search path with a meson include_directories() directive, and internal headers are included with (e.g. for the internal semaphore.h header) #include "semaphore.h" All was well, until libcxx decided to implement the C++20 synchronization library. The __threading_support header gained a #include <semaphore.h> to include the pthread's semaphore support. As include_directories() adds src/libcamera/include/ to the compiler search path with -I, the internal semaphore.h is included instead of the pthread version. Needless to say, the compiler isn't happy. Three options have been considered to fix this issue: - Use -iquote instead of -I. The -iquote option instructs gcc to only consider the header search path for headers included with the "" version. Meson unfortunately doesn't support this option. - Rename the internal semaphore.h header. This was deemed to be the beginning of a long whack-a-mole game, where namespace clashes with system libraries would appear over time (possibly dependent on particular system configurations) and would need to be constantly fixed. - Move the internal headers to another directory to create a unique namespace through path components. This causes lots of churn in all the existing source files through the all project. The first option would be best, but isn't available to us due to missing support in meson. Even if -iquote support was added, we would need to fix the problem before a new version of meson containing the required support would be released. The third option is thus the only practical solution available. Bite the bullet, and do it, moving headers to include/libcamera/internal/. 2020-05-13licenses: License all meson files under CC0-1.0Laurent Pinchart
In an attempt to clarify the license terms of all files in the libcamera project, the build system files deserve particular attention. While they describe how the binaries are created, they are not themselves transformed into any part of binary distributions of the software, and thus don't influence the copyright on the binary packages. They are however subject to copyright, and thus influence the distribution terms of the source packages. Most of the meson.build files would not meet the threshold of originality criteria required for copyright protection. Some of the more complex meson.build files may be eligible for copyright protection. To avoid any ambiguity and uncertainty, state our intent to not assert copyrights on the build system files by putting them in the public domain with the CC0-1.0 license. 2020-03-06test: Extract BufferSource class out of camera tests to libtestNiklas Söderlund
The BufferSource class can be used by other tests other then the camera buffer importer test, move it to libtest. The only changes to BufferSource is for it to be allowed to be split in a header and source file. This change makes it necessary for libtest to have access to internal libcamera headers. As the internal headers already are accessible to all test cases this does not increase the exposure of libcamera internals to the test cases. 2019-06-05libcamera: ipa_manager: implement class for managing IPA modulesPaul Elder
IPAManager is a class that will search in given directories for IPA modules, and will load them into a list. It also provides an interface for pipeline handlers to acquire an IPA. A meson build file for the IPAs is added, which also specifies a hard-coded path for where to load the IPAs from in the installation directory. More paths can be specified with the environment variable LIBCAMERA_IPA_MODULE_PATH, with the same syntax as the regular PATH environment variable.
