2024-04-16libcamera: dma_heaps: extend DmaHeap class to support system heapAndrey Konovalov
Add an argument to the constructor to specify dma heaps type(s) to use. Can be DmaHeapFlag::Cma and/or DmaHeapFlag::System. By default DmaHeapFlag::Cma is used. If both DmaHeapFlag::Cma and DmaHeapFlag::System are set, CMA heap is tried first. The CameraSensor class has grown a lot since its creation, with many functions added for different types of purposes. They are not grouped by categories in the class definition, generating confusion when reading the header file. Improve readability by sorting functions by category: - Getters for static data (model, entity, focus lens, ...) - Format and sensor configuration accessors - Properties and controls (including test pattern mode) Update the .cpp file accordingly. The CameraSensor::updateControlInfo() function is a wrapper around the same function of the V4L2Subdevice class. It was meant to be called by pipeline handlers that modify the sensor configuration directly, bypassing the CameraSensor::setFormat() function. This never happened, and the function is called once only, internally to the CameraSensor class. No external users are foreseen, drop the function and call V4L2Subdevice::updateControlInfo() directly. 2024-03-15libcamera: v4l2_subdevice: Add V4L2Subdevice::Route structureLaurent Pinchart
The V4L2Subdevice class deals with streams in two places: - In routing tables, streams as expressed as a pad number and a stream number in a v4l2_subdev_route instance. - In the format and selection get and set functions, streams as expressed using the Stream structure, which binds the pad number and stream number. Expressing streams in different ways requires pipeline handlers and other helpers to convert between the two representations. This isn't much of an issue yet as libcamera has little stream-aware code, but it is expected to increasingly become a burden. To simplify the API, introduce a V4L2Subdevice::Route structure that mimicks the kernel v4l2_subdev_route structure but represents streams as V4L2Subdevice::Stream instances. This will improve seamless integration of routes, formats and selection rectangles. The main (and only at the moment) use case for the Routing::toString() function is to print a representation of the routing table in a log message. The function is implemented using an std::stringstream, and the returned std::string is then inserted into an std::ostream. This is inefficient. Extend the V4L2Subdevice API with stream support for the functions that get and set formats and selection rectangles. Add a Stream structure to identify a subdev pad and stream, and use it to extend the V4L2Subdevice functions that get and set formats and selection rectangles with stream support. To preserve the existing pad-based API, implement overloaded functions that wrap the new stream-based API. This allows callers that are not stream-aware to use a simpler pad-based API, instead of having to explicitly set the stream number to 0 in all API calls. 2024-01-25libcamera: object: Add and use thread-bound assertionLaurent Pinchart
Several functions in libcamera classes are marked as thread-bound, restricting the contexts in which those functions can be called. There is no infrastructure to enforce these restrictions, causing difficult to debug race conditions when they are not met by callers. As a first step to solve this, add an assertThreadBound() protected function to the Object class to test if the calling thread context is valid, and use it in member functions of Object subclasses marked as thread-bound. This replaces manual tests in a few locations. The thread-bound member functions of classes that do not inherit from Object are not checked, and neither are the functions of classes marked as thread-bound at the class level. 2023-11-30libcamera: controls: Use vendor tags for draft controls and propertiesNaushir Patuck
Label draft controls and properties through the "draft" vendor tag and deprecate the existing "draft: true" mechanism. This uses the new vendor tags mechanism to place draft controls in the same libcamera::controls::draft namespace and provide a defined control id range for these controls. This requires moving all draft controls from control_ids.yaml to control_ids_draft.yaml. One breaking change in this commit is that draft control ids also move to the libcamera::controls::draft namespace from the existing libcamera::controls namespace. This is desirable to avoid API breakages when adding new libcamera controls. So, for example, the use of controls::NOISE_REDUCTION_MODE will need to be replaced with controls::draft::NOISE_REDUCTION_MODE. Add support for vendor-specific controls and properties to libcamera. The controls/properties are defined by a "vendor" tag in the YAML control description file, for example: vendor: rpi controls: - MyExampleControl: type: string description: | Test for libcamera vendor-specific controls. This will now generate a control id in the libcamera::controls::rpi namespace, ensuring no id conflict between different vendors, core or draft libcamera controls. Similarly, a ControlIdMap control is generated in the libcamera::controls::rpi namespace. A #define LIBCAMERA_HAS_RPI_VENDOR_CONTROLS is also generated to allow applications to conditionally compile code if the specific vendor controls are present. For the python bindings, the control is available with libcamera.controls.rpi.MyExampleControl. The above controls example applies similarly to properties. Existing libcamera controls defined in control_ids.yaml are given the "libcamera" vendor tag. A new --mode flag is added to gen-controls.py to specify the mode of operation, either 'controls' or 'properties' to allow the code generator to correctly set the #define string. As a drive-by, sort and redefine the output command line argument in gen-controls.py and gen-py-controls.py to ('--output', '-o') for consistency. 2023-06-17libcamera: pipeline: Register device numbers with cameraKieran Bingham
Register the identified device numbers with each camera as the SystemDevices property. This facilitates camera daemons or other systems to identify which devices are being managed by libcamera, and can prevent duplication of camera resources. As the SystemDevices property now provides this list of devices, use it directly from within the CameraManager when adding a Camera rather than passing it through the internal API. 2023-06-17libcamera: camera_manager: Move {add, remove}Camera to internalKieran Bingham
The CameraManager exposes addCamera and removeCamera as public API calls, while they should never be called from an application. These calls are only expected to be used by PipelineHandlers to update the CameraManager that a new Camera has been created and allow the Camera Manager to expose it to applications. Remove the public calls and update the private implementations such that they can be used directly by the PipelineHandler through the internal CameraManager::Private provided by the Extensible class. 2023-06-17libcamera: camera_manager: Move private implementation to internalKieran Bingham
The CameraManager makes use of the Extensible pattern to provide an internal private implementation that is not exposed in the public API. Move the Private declaration to an internal header to make it available from other internal components in preperation for reducing the surface area of the public interface of the CameraManager. 2023-06-17libcamera: internal: request: convert to pragma onceKieran Bingham
Remove the verbose #ifndef/#define/#endif pattern for maintaining header idempotency, and replace it with a simple #pragma once. This simplifies the headers, and prevents redundant changes when header files get moved. The internal/request.h was missed at the time of the original conversion. Update it. 2023-06-05ipa: rpi: Handle controls for mono variant sensorsNaushir Patuck
Do not advertise colour related controls (i.e. [A]WB, colour saturation) in the ControlInfoMap of available controls returned out to the application. Silently ignore these controls in the control handler in case applications don't use the advertised ControlInfoMap to validate controls. As a drive-by fix, don't advertise controls::ColourCorrectionMatrix in the ControlInfoMap as it is not handled by the IPA.
